The Premier Soccer League are aware of the spitting controversy from last night’s clash between Bidvest Wits and AmaZulu and say that it’s now in the hands of the prosecutor.
Replays showed Wits’ Gabadinho Mhango spitting in the face of Usuthu goalscorer, Michael Morton, during a scuffle in the second half the game, with the midfielder retaliating in a way that saw him sent off by the referee.
Mhango, however, went unpunished and – as things stand – will be able to continue playing while Morton serves a two-match ban.
Gavin Hunt earlier told the Siya crew that he hadn’t seen the incident yet, but said that if Mhango did spit at the former SuperSport United man then he would be dealt with internally by the club.
Now, having contacted the league, it appears that they have also taken note of the situation and are currently looking into it.
PSL spokesperson, Luxolo September, says that the matter is now with the PSL prosecutor.
He explained to the crew, “The Mhango matter has been referred to the PSL prosecutor, and he will now make a decision on what happens next.”
Morton will now miss Usuthu’s big games against Platinum Stars and SuperSport this month.
