Brazilian defender Caio Marcelo has sent a goodbye message to Orlando Pirates after he was allowed to leave the club and return to his native country.
“Thanks for everything Buccaneers family. It was a pleasure to participate in this journey with this wonderful club. Thanks for the unconditional support and for the affection. My debut as a professional and my first goal as a professional are special moments that I will take …forever with me. I’m always supporting @orlandopirates, you have gained a special place in my heart. And never, ever will I forget the sounds of South Africa, what a sound! #OnceAlways,” tweeted the 21 year-old on Wednesday.
Pirates announced on Tuesday that they had allowed Marcelo to leave the club and return to Brazil because he was homesick.
Caio Marcelo joined Pirates for the 2018/19 season, but made just eight appearances for the Buccaneers in all competitions, scoring one goal.
