Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has walked away with the CAF Coach of the Year award after his impressive spell at the helm of the Brazilians in 2016.
Mosimane received the CAF Coach of the Year nomination last month, after leading Downs to the 2015/16 Absa Premiership title and the CAF Champions League trophy.
The CAF awards took place in Abuja, Nigeria, tonight, where the 52-year-old was up against Florent Ibenge (DR Congo), Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic (Uganda), Nacer Sandjak (MO Bejaia) and Florence Omagbemi (Nigeria women’s national team) for the prestigious award.
After claiming the 2015/16 Coach of the Year award at the PSL ceremony last year, the head coach has now been named the best coach on the African continent.
Mosimane will now be hoping to lead his charges to yet another title challenge, and defend their status as the champions of Africa.
