Former Supersport United and Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus is currently enjoying life in France. He joined the French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes from Orlando Pirates in January 2016. He has been used as a substitute in a few games for Rennes with the intention that he will get used to the French football with time.
Erasmus made headlines when he announced that he will not play for the South African national team under current coach Shakes Mashaba due to the coach sidelining him when he was on top form for Orlando Pirates when he was scoring goals left and right in the domestic league and CAF competitions. Erasmus was angered by the fact that he was only called up in the national team when the other preferred strikers were not available.
Erasmus last scored for Rennes reserve side when they played TA Rennes in February this year in their 5 – 0 win. He is yet to contribute his goal scoring abilities to the Rennes first team. Erasmus is still following the progress of his former team Orlando Pirates while in France.
It is believed that Rennes are also following Keagan Dolly of Mamelodi Sundowns, with a chance that they might sign the midfielder during the transfer window in January 2017. Dolly is said to have impressed Rennes technical team during the Rio Olympics in Brazil where the South African under 23 was participating although they failed to go through from the group stages.
