Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Baroka FC striker Geoffrey Massa survived a near death experience after police opened fire at his car.
The Ugandan attacker was shot at after he allegedly tried to elude police, according to reports from Uganda.
According to the reports, Massa had parked his car on the side of the road in the early hours of Thursday morning when a passing police patrol car stopped to investigate if he needed assistance. But he then allegedly sped off and police gave chase and shot at the car as they tried to stop him.
The reports suggest that Massa was having s*x with a female occupant in his car when the police stopped, and he tried to run to avoid being jailed.
“Last night, there was an incident in which police on patrol suspecting a parked vehicle along the high way on the Nambole Fly Over, stopped and wanted to talk to the occupants. It’s reported that the driver, Geoffrey Massa sped off in a rush sending more suspicion,” a statement from the police as published in the Ugandan.com read.
The female passenger was injured during the shoot-out and Massa took her to a nearby clinic.
It is not clear at this stage whether Massa had been arrested.
