A former Orlando Pirates defender is close to joining a new club after being released parting ways with the Soweto giants.
Marc van Heerden, whose departure from Pirates was confirmed last week, is set to re-join AmaZulu. In their confirmation last week, Bucs announced that together with the player’s representatives, they agreed to mutually terminate his contract, following a meeting between the parties.
According to sources, Van Heerden is set to re-join Usuthu for the upcoming season. It was at the Durban club that the left-back made a name for himself from 2008 to 2016 before leaving for Chippa United.
Contacted for comment, AmaZulu’s team manager Qedi Dlamini told the Siya crew that negotiations are ongoing for the defender.
“We haven’t confirmed anything yet, and all that we are saying is that the talks are ongoing. The thing is we can’t be discussing things that are still under wraps. Talks are ongoing,” said Dlamini.
