Thabo ‘Festival’ Matlaba has not yet been at Black Leopards for training, this despite having already been announced by the club as their new signing.
Following his exit from Orlando Pirates, having spent over seven years with the Soweto giants, Matlaba was announced as the latest addition to Leopards’ squad.
However, the 31-year-old Tembisa-born player has yet to arrive at Lidoda Duvha to begin training with the team in preparation for the new season.
After some investigating, the Siya crew has been informed that Matlaba has been given permission to take care of some family issues before relocating from Gauteng to Limpopo to begin the journey with his new club.
Matlaba recently became a father to a new-born baby, and among other things, the left-back wants to ensure that his family is fine before leaving them, as they will not be relocating with him to Limpopo, according to sources.
The Siya crew has learnt that the star had been given until today (Friday) to have his family matters sorted and will be expected to join his new teammates at Leopards over the weekend for their preparations for the start of the 2019/20 season.
Leopards are scheduled to get their Absa Premiership campaign underway with a Limpopo derby match against Polokwane City at the Thohoyandou Stadium on on August 04.
