Thela Ngobeni has attracted more interest from clubs in the Premier Soccer League as his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns seems inevitable at this point.
It was reported this morning by the Siya crew that Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be showing interest in Ngobeni, with the Soweto giants eager to bolster their goalkeeping department, following Itumeleng Khune’s injury, which ruled him out of action for the rest of the season.
However, sources have indicated that Chiefs will have competition on their hands to land the player’s services, with the new Golden Arrows head coach, Steve Komphela believed to be keen on bringing the player to the KwaZulu-Natal-based club in the current January transfer window.
Ngobeni will see his contract with Sundowns expire on June 30, this year, with the player currently free to put pen to paper on a pre-contract with any interested suitor.
However, it seems that the player could be leaving the Chloorkop-based club before the end of the season, with Arrows possibly looking at approaching Sundowns with an offer for the 29-year-old shot-stopper.
Now, it remains to be seen where Ngobeni’s next destination will be, as he eagerly looks for regular game-time.
