Solinas is under fire again according to Amakhosi legend.
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Pollen Ndlanya says Amakhosi will not be able to challenge for trophies if coach Giovanni Solinas keeps chopping and changing his starting line-up.
‘Trompies’ believes that former Chiefs trainer Steve Komphela was better than the current coach although he had no quality players in his squad.
“Chiefs will not win any trophy this season if they continue to play like this. The coach is regularly changing his starting eleven and I don’t understand why the coach is changing his line-up when he has not established his best eleven,” Ndlanya said to Isolezwe.
Amakhosi have already missed out on lifting the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout Cups so far, but have a chance to fight for the Caf Confederation Cup and the Nedbank Cup as they are slowly losing the race for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.
After playing 14 PSL games so far, the Soweto giants have 18 points from six draws, four losses and as many victories at number seven on the log table.
“At least one would expect the team to have direction in terms of progress as far as challenging for trophies is concerned, but there’s nothing convincing instead things are becoming tough,” noted the former Amakhosi hitman.
“Komphela was way better than the current coach, maybe it’s because he had no quality players and had no luck. How much more to a coach who has the players, but not capable of using them?,” quizzed the ex-Bafana Bafana international.
With some of the Glamour Boys’ faithful already doubting the former Free State Stars mentor’s ability, Ndlanya has also pointed fingers at the Italian’s technical bench whilst calling for more bravery from the players.
“I think the entire Chiefs’ technical team shows a lack of experience. They don’t show faith in their players and sometimes I think they (players) are not brave enough,” continued Ndlanya.
“To be honest, I don’t think they will be able to qualify for the top eight this season,” concluded the legend.
Following their losses to Golden Arrows in the league and at the hands of Zimamoto in the continental competition, Chiefs will meet SuperSport United at Mbombela Stadium next week.
