News reaching us is that Kaizer Chiefs will not entertain any talk of George Lebese returning to Naturena.
The wingers’ future remains up in the air and further clarity on his likely destination was expected sometime this week after his current club coach Pitso Mosimane revealed last month that the player was on his way out.
Lebese himself broke his silence and expressed a desire to leave Mamelodi Sundowns, where he has not made any appearances this season and has dropped down the pecking order in his position.
Siya sources have indicated that Lebese is not short of offers after inquiries over his service were made by Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic, meaning he would have to relocate. But the player would rather stay in Gauteng and is said to have asked his former club Chiefs to take him back.
Although he left with chairman Kaizer Motaung’s blessing, the club feels the gap left by the player has long been filled and there is no room for a comeback. Lebese, 29, joined Sundowns from Amakhosi at the start of the previous season in a high-profile move to his boyhood club, which has sadly ended in disappointment.
In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, the crew also reported a potential swap deal that could be on the cards with Lebese joining SuperSport United and Sundowns target Thabo Mnyamane going the other way.
