News reaching us says Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with the representative of a fringe player at Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi are looking to bolster their defence after a disastrous campaign and are said to have enquired about the availability of defender Justice Chabalala.
Chabalala has an option in his contract which expires at the end of this month, but Pirates are unlikely to take it after the Free State Stars did not feature in a competitive match this past season.
According to a reliable source, Amakhosi have made contact with the player’s camp.
“In fact both Sundowns and Chiefs are talking to the player’s agent. They are monitoring Justice,” a source tells our source.
“Remember [Ernst] Middendorp is the one who promoted Chabalala at Free State Stars. And Sundowns they were about to sign him when Pirates snatched him. The player’s camp is waiting until month end to see if Bucs exercise the option.
“The thing is there’s no communication between Pirates and the player’s camp, while on the other side Chiefs personally called his agent. Everything will be clearer by the end of June because that’s where Pirates must decide.”
