Mamelodi Sundowns defender facing uncertain future

There is still uncertainty surrounding Bangaly Soumahoro’s future at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Unconfirmed reports have revealed that Soumahoro’s contract with Sundowns is set to come to an end on June 30 this year, however, there has been much speculation about whether or not the Brazilians have already extended the player’s deal.

The Siya crew reported in December last year that the Ivorian centre back was set to sign a new deal with the Chloorkop-based club, with it being revealed at the time that Head Coach Pitso Mosimane confirmed that the 26-year-old is close to putting pen to paper.

In that same month, Sundowns announced contract extensions for four players, namely, Themba Zwane, Siyanda Zwane, Motjeka Madisha and Kennedy Mweene.

However, there has still been no confirmation about Soumahoro’s contract extension, with the centre back’s current deal expected to come to an end this month, June 30.

Although according to a source in the know, Soumahoro is believed to have one more year left on his deal with Sundowns, indicating that he may have had an added one-year option exercised on his deal.

This means that he will be staying with Sundowns beyond June 30, although, with the transfer window approaching, it remains to be seen whether the Brazilians are set to keep the player on their books in the new season.
