Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a message of comfort and words of encouragement to Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic.
Sredojevic has finished his second season at Pirates without a trophy after losing the league title to Sundowns. The Serbian coach also lost the chance of winning the Telkom Knockout last year after losing on penalties to Baroka FC in the final.
Mosimane has urged ‘Micho’ not to despair.
“I must congratulate everybody. The 15 clubs in the premier league have given us a hard time,” said Mosimane.
“My friend, coach Micho, has given me a race again, he mustn’t despair. He has done very well. Rome was not built in one day. Look at Jurgen Klopp, they are top coaches but to win trophies sometimes you need a little bit of luck.
“Sometimes you can do so well like Steve [Komphela] but you don’t win trophies but are still a good coach. Micho has done well and has improved Orlando Pirates. I want to congratulate him, Rhulani [Mokwena], Fadlu [Davids] and the rest of the technical team, they gave us a race.
“It was not an easy race, it was a scary race but it’s going be like that even next year. I believe as long as I am here the race is still on,” he added.
Mosimane and Sredojevic will be vying with Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy for the Coach of the Season at the PSL Awards in Durban on Sunday.
