Our source has learned that Mamelodi Sundowns’ Percy Tau is ready to boycott club activities in a bid to force management to release him from his contract and allow him to move to Europe.
Sunday Times reported today that Premier League side Brighton have placed a concrete offer on the table to lure Tau to England next season, but the Brazilians are said to be dragging their feet when it comes to getting the deal through.
Sundowns even released a statement on Sunday insisting they remain committed to helping Tau achieve his dream of landing a move to Europe.
However, this publication has since been reliably informed that Tau did not travel with the Brazilians to Rustenburg on Sunday for their pre-season camp in the North West after falling out with the club.
“The situation between Sundowns and Percy Tau has since turned ugly and the relationship between the two parties is tense. The player did not travel with the club for pre-season camp in Rustenburg,” the source tells us.
“This is part of efforts to force Sundowns to accede to a request to allow him a move to Europe,” the source adds.
Tau’s agent, Mmatsatsi Sefalafala, declined to comment about his client’s absence from Mamelodi Sundowns’ pre-season camp and referred comment to the Brazilians.
