Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns will celebrate with their supporters with a trophy parade this afternoon in Tshwane.
Pitso Mosimane’s boys, who took Sundowns’ league title total to nine in the team’s history, will be in Mamelodi, Attridgeville, Soshanguve, Hammanskraal, GaRankuwa, Mmakau, Mabopane, Wintervelt, Pretoria City Center and there will be live music performances at a stop over at Tshwane University of Technology in Soshanguve, South and Main Campus. There will be performances by AKA, Kwesta, Dr Malinga, King Monada, DJ Maphorisa and DJ Sumbody from 12pm.
Unlike in the past where they would be playing CAF Champions League football in June and July, Sundowns players will get a chance to take a break during the off-season. Some of the players, however, will be involved in Africa Cup of Nations action.
It was the first time Sundowns defended the league title under the guidance of Mosimane and they will surely go all out in their celebrations, after a difficult campaign which saw them playing over 50 matches.
TUT Director of Sport and Recreation, Shadrack Nthangani, says his institution is ready to welcome the Brazilians today.
“Every time Mamelodi Sundowns do their trophy parade at TUT, the following season they win the trophy again,” said Nthangani.
“We are looking forward to welcoming our strategic partners at the Soshanguve campus.”
