Mamelodi Sundowns to sign former Orlando Pirates and Bafana striker

Mamelodi Sundowns look set to sign a former Orlando Pirates striker, as coach Pitso Mosimane looks to bolster his already star-studded side.

Free agent Tokelo Rantie has been training with Sundowns, hoping to secure himself a contract after a difficult couple of years in his career.

It seems he has done enough to win a contract with the Brazilians after impressing Mosimane.

‘Jingles’ has since confirmed that his club will give Rantie a chance to play this season.

“We will talk to him and find out his feelings,” said Mosimane.

“This guy was playing in [English] Premier League. This guy was playing in Turkey. There must be something there. Let’s give a try, let’s give the guy a chance to play. He deserves a chance,” he added.

Rantie was on the books of Cape Town City last season, but his contract was terminated after just half a season due to off the field problems.

“With us we have never seen any problems and that’s why we are considering [signing him]”,he added.

Sundowns can sign Rantie even after the closing of the window period as he is a free agent.
