Following the signing of Thamsanqa Sangweni, Orlando Pirates are keen on adding another central midfielder to the upcoming season’s squad, with sources indicating that Bloemfontein Celtic’s Alfred Ndengane is the latest transfer target for the Soweto giants.
So far in this transfer window, Bucs have officially announced the signing of only Sangweni from Chippa United.
As reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, Ndengane has been identified as a potential target for the Buccaneers during the July/August transfer window.
Ndengane has become the second Celtic player targeted by Pirates, as Musa Nyatama is also being wanted for a move to Houghton.
However, Celtic have been reluctant to sell Nyatama to Pirates, as indicated by Siya sources in the know.
Bucs have now added Ndengane on the list of their transfer targets for the 2017/18 season.
“Pirates are interested in Alfred Ndengane, but it looks like Celtic is reluctant to part ways with the player. There’s been a mention of a potential swap deal, but the thing is that Celtic want more than one player from Pirates. The club wants two or three players in exchange for Ndengane. So, you can say Celtic don’t want to part ways with the player,” said a source.
Ndengane, 30, is still under contract at Celtic as he had his deal extended by three years last year.
