Our source has learnt that Orlando Pirates have stepped up their efforts to sign Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo.
Hlatshwayo, who grew up supporting Pirates, has been linked with the Buccaneers since last season.
And while speculation over Hlatshwayo’s future died down when he penned a new three-year deal with Wits in March, Pirates have not given up on recruiting the Bafana Bafana centre-back.
According to a source close to the Clever Boys, Bucs have offered a few players to their rivals in exchange for ‘Tyson’.
“Pirates are trying to push the deal. But Wits are not keen at the moment,” says the informant.
“There is still time and nothing is impossible.”
The Sea Robbers have been active in the transfer market of late, bringing in Brilliant Khuzwayo, Vincent Pule, Ben Motshwari, Asavela Mbekile, Linda Mntambo, Paseka Mako, Abel Mabaso, Meschack Maphangule and Kudakwashe Mahachi.
