Orlando Pirates defender, Thembela Sikhakhane, is headed back to KwaZulu-Natala after a loan agreement was reached with the Buccaneers for his services.
The 25-year-old full back spent the 2012/18 season on loan with AmaZulu as the club looked to send him out in order to pick up some more regular game time, something that he managed to do as he played 20 games for the club in all competitions.
It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Usuthu had been so impressed with the defender that they were keen to make his stay permanent, and while they haven’t been able to do that at this stage, they will have him available for the 2018/19 campaign.
Mike Makaab, the player’s agent, confirmed to the crew that the former Golden Arrows right back is going back on loan for the season as Cavin Johnson’s side look to have a successful second year back in the top-flight.
Makaab said, “Thembela is going back on loan to AmaZulu. He really impressed last season and they were eager to get him back. We just want to thank Orlando Pirates for the way in which they conducted the deal.”
The Buccaneers are looking to trim down their squad in the coming weeks before the new season gets underway.
