Pitso only 2 games away to be the best ever coach in South Africa

Pitso Mosimane, the Mamelodi Sundowns coach is only 2 games away to be the best coach ever in South African football and that will take a lot of years for other coaches to break or he may remain the best ever coach in the history of South African football. Sundowns qualified for the MTN 8 finals and the CAF Champions League finals in only 3 days, which is from Wednesday the 21st to Saturday the 24th September 2016.

Pitso is currently South Africa’s most decorated coach. His achievements are far better than European coaches who also coached in the PSL. Pitso has won every trophy that is available in the PSL. He has won everything that has been put in front of every coach. Pitso’s first trophy was the SAA Supa Cup in 2004 when he was coaching Supersport United. The second one was the ABSA Cup in 2005 which he won while coaching Supersport United. He then went on to clinch the league title in 2013/2014 season with Mamelodi Sundowns. After that he won the Telkom Knockout and the Nedbank Cup both in 2015. He then won the 2015/16 league title. In total, Pitso has collected 6 trophies since the inception of the PSL in 1997.

This week, he qualified the team to the MTN 8 final that will be played at Mbombela stadium in Mpumalanga on the 1st of October. If he wins it, he will be adding the total trophies he won as a coach to 7 and the MTN 8 trophy will be his second as he has already won it with Supersport United.

If he wins the CAF Champions League against Zamalek SC of Egypt, he will be the first South African coach to win the number one trophy in Africa. He will also be the second coach to win it for the South African team after the one won by Orlando Pirates in 1995. The 21 year record of Orlando Pirates will also be broken by Pitso if Sundowns win the trophy.

Pitso’s record includes both South African and international coaches who are coaching in South Africa in the PSL and the NFD. The man is only a few games away from being the best coach that has ever come out of our own South Africa. He has been with the national team Bafana Bafana and has also faced a lot of criticism from the media and fans and at some time they were even calling for his removal from the coaching job.
