Orlando Pirates Football Club has been busy during the offseason trying to sign all their targets before the start of the new Premier Soccer League (PSL) season. The might team has signed top quality players that could help the team win silverware in the new season. They also have a new coach in Muhsin Ertugral who was the coach of the then Mpumalanga Black Aces Football Club.

Players that Pirates are currently targeting are Steven Pienaar, Tokelo Rantie, Sibusiso Vilakazi, and Thamsanqa Sangweni. The good news for Pirates fans is that Thamsanqa Gabuza and Lehlohonolo Majoro will be staying with Pirates and be given another chance by Muhsin Ertugral.

Pirates also welcome the return of Oupa Manyisa from injury. The star midfielder has been injured since earlier last season and has not played a single game for Pirates since then. His return will also boost Muhsin Ertugral’s options in the midfield positions. Manyisa will obviously retain his captaincy belt once fit and ready to play again.

The first match that Pirates will play before the opening of the new PSL season is a game against Kaizer Chiefs Football Club in the Carling Black Label Cup. The match will be played on the 30th July 2016.

Pirates are hoping to win the league and the Nedbank cup to be able to return to CAF competitions where they still have unfinished business as they played 2 finals in the space of 2 years, without winning each of those finals. Muhsin is quite aware of the dream that Pirates has when it comes to continental competitions.

The main target for Pirates is to repeat their dominance in the domestic competition like they did in 201/2013 when they managed to win double treble. Pirates managed to win the treble with great talent in their team and Lucky Lekgwathi as their captain. Since then they have struggled to win a trophy in the PSL.

The new season will be very interesting for Pirates as they managed to sign all their targets in time and they are still continuing to do so. The Pirates management has been criticized by fans for not taking care of the team in recent times where the team boss Dr. Irvin Khoza was not taking part in Pirates matters. Since then Dr Khoza has confirmed that he will be available for the team in the new season and will provide his full needed support in the team.
