Pitso Mosimane will be forced into at least one change for tonight’s top-of-the-table clash with Cape Town City, with one key player missing as they look to rise to the summit.
A victory for Masandawana over the Citizens would see them leapfrog both Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership, climbing from third place into first as they look to try and win back-to-back league titles.
Wayne Arendse was given a straight red card in the recent 1-1 draw with Wits as the Brazilians missed their last chance to go top of the table, and will now be forced to sit out this evening’s game as Mosimane looks for another option in central defence.
The Sundowns coach does have plenty of options at centre back as he decides who to replace Arendse with, though Rivaldo Coetzee could be the most obvious option given that he was the player who came on against the Clever Boys to shore up the defence last week.
Meanwhile, though City don’t have any players out with suspension, they will be without Rayaan Jacobs as he serves a ban handed down by the Premier Soccer League, with Benni McCarthy’s side looking to keep their title hopes alive by moving level on points with Sundowns in third place.
