Muhsin Ertugral is one of the respected coaches in the Premier Soccer League and he has proved before that he is capable of winning trophies when he is coaching. Muhsin is from turkey and he first came to South Africa as a coach for Kaizer Chiefs FC. He then coached Ajax Cape Town FC, Golden Arrows FC and Mpumalanga Black Aces FC which has now relocated to Cape Town as it was sold from Mpumalanga. He also coached in the rest of Africa in Egypt, DR Congo, and Tanzania.
At Kaizer Chiefs, Muhsin won a few trophies and he managed the team very well except some situations where he was not seeing eye to eye with Kaizer Chiefs management. At all other teams he also did the same and had fallouts with team management before leaving them. The big problem that football fans have been asking each other is whether Muhsin has changed or Orlando Pirates will accept him as he is. The man is known to be a bad coach when it comes to handling players during practice sessions and during official games.
He had fallout with a lot of players in South Africa. I remember he had fallout with Abia Nale and Mabuti Khanyeza when they were still playing for Kaizer Chiefs. Those 2 players went on to leave Kaizer Chiefs with Muhsin as the reason. Mabuti Khanyeza went to Ajax Cape town FC as a result of a fall out with Muhsin and the following season Muhsin signed for Ajax and Abia Nale left Ajax to join another team. Abia Nale’s talent was wasted at Chiefs due to fallout he had with Muhsin and later on his career decided to leave Chiefs to revive his career somewhere else.
Honestly Muhsin is very bad when it comes to controlling his temper. The problem is that he behaves badly even in front of the fans and on national TV. We do understand that the game of soccer involves a lot of nerves, but it does not mean that coaches must react in badly when things are not going their way. We have witnessed top coaches in world football, they don’t behave inappropriate even when billions of dollars are at stake. They understand that players are also human and they deserve to be respected. That is one thing I still have to see from Muhsin as a coach.
For players to play better and do better, they must be free to play and not be scared to make mistakes. With Muhsin as a coach, players are scared to make mistakes. For each and every team that Muhsin has coached, players have been monitoring how he reacts to certain circumstances during matches and all the time players are always looking at him after an incident. It really shows they are not free to play their normal game. He is a good coach technically and he does not like players who are not fully committed to his plans. He hates being in a losing side as a coach and he vents his anger at players all the time instead of also rechecking his tactics and maybe implement changes.
The same problem will arise at Orlando Pirates within the first 4 games with him as a coach. A few players are going to have serious issues with him and a few careers are going to end because of him. Players with flair like Thabo Rakgale, Thabo Qalinge, Thabo Matlaba, and Mpho Makola are going to have problems with him. Mark my word, Pirates will no longer be the same when it comes to unity with Muhsin as a coach. This is going to happen only if he is not a changed man.
